Dialogues on Democracy and Development / Azim Premji University

I am the founder of Dialogues on Democracy and Development (DoD) is a voluntary, unfunded initiative that works at the intersection of democracy, justice, sustainability, and animal rights.
Animals are central to our work, but we approach animal advocacy in a way that is rooted in constitution and sustainability education..
Through this work, we have seen measurable shifts where participants reduce animal product consumption and, in some cases, adopt plant-based diets.
Over the past five years, we have:

  • Conducted 40+ workshops across India, engaging 4500+ participants
  • Developed the video series “Siddhant Samvidhan Ke”, reaching 100,000+ people
  • Successfully introduced plant-based and sustainability frameworks within institutional spaces, including universities

What is unique about DoD is that we do not treat veganism as a standalone lifestyle issue. We position it within a broader framework of ending all forms of oppression and building justice for all—humans, animals, and the natural world. This allows us to engage audiences that traditional advocacy often finds difficult to reach, and to build more durable, values-driven change.
We are now developing an online course, “Constitution, Climate, and Me”, which translates this approach into a scalable format. Our goal is to make these ideas accessible to students, institutions, and communities at scale, particularly in a country with over 250 million students across schools and higher education.
