Excited to mentor projects on
Open to anything Welfare Tech related. Especially interested in working with people exploring forming a startup in the space. Some ideas are AI-enabled veterinary care, welfare certification monitoring, acoustic/robotic/visual enrichment, sales and distribution support, translational medicine, or animal digital twins for trial compression.
Who I'm looking for
We are hopeful that some graduates may be interested in our Entrepreneur in Residence program, but principally looking to learn about and support the AI×Animals space where my experience is additive.

Nate Crosser
Spring Innovation Fund is a 501(c)(3) venture philanthropy studio and investment firm dedicated to Welfare Tech: technologies that improve animal welfare on farms and fisheries, and make commercial sense for producers. Through catalytic capital and hands-on incubation, Spring aims to grow the field of Welfare Tech and scale its impact. As VP of Investments, I lead external venture investments and incubation of new startups through our Entrepreneur-in-Residence program. Examples of Welfare Tech include aquacultured-fish enrichment, robotics-enabled individualized veterinary care, novel vaccines and delivery mechanisms, pain-free stunning devices, and high-welfare feed additives. I expect AI will enable many new welfare wins while also posing s-risks. I’ve been a VC investor in agrifood and biotech for several years. I’m leading our buildout of AI tools for programmatic and operational use.
