Who I'm looking for
Must-haves: a real problem you care about and a bias towards building rather than endlessly planning. You don't need to be a strong engineer - resourceful and willing to learn matters far more than existing skill. Nice-to-haves: a project already underway, and a clear sense of who it's for. Above all, someone who'll act on feedback and keep momentum between sessions.
Questions for applicants
- What's the smallest useful version of your project you could ship in the next few months, and what's currently stopping you?
- Are you comfortable building with technical tools and AI, or would you be learning that as you go?
- What does success look like for you by the end of the program?
Support offered
- Shaping direction and scoping (cutting a big idea down to a shippable first version)
- Hands-on product and technical guidance
- Help choosing the right tools and AI/automation approaches
- Accountability and momentum between sessions
- Facilitating connections across the movement and my network where useful

James Morgan
Vegan Hacktivists
I'm James, Executive Director of Vegan Hacktivists - we build free tech, tools and infrastructure for the animal advocacy movement. Since 2019 we've supported hundreds of organisations across the space, and I've spent that time at the intersection of product, engineering and advocacy - working out what to build, how to build it lean, and how to get it into people's hands. Alongside VH I'm Head of Product at a vegan tech startup, so I live in both the nonprofit and the fast-moving product worlds.
